Hi Ellen -
Yes, the Amalfi>Capri ferry is seasonal but as it's currently the first week of October, the current schedule can give you an idea of what next year's schedule for the same time period might look like. Do understand that ferries can be cancelled due to nasty weather/rough seas.

Note that practically all of the Amalfi>Capri ferries make a stop in Positano.
Does this help?

Thank you Kathy. I was wondering that as the "Postiano" name was on the ferry.

So here's a naive question; Are ferries canceled for the entire day? I just checked the weather now and they say chance of thunderstorm. What happens to my lodging if I can not go? Not so much on Capri, I pay, but I would have to scramble for lodging if I must stay in one location?

Hi back, Ellen -
I wish I had a definitive answer for you but we didn't experience a cancellation firsthand. I do know that, while rare, chance of a cancellation is greatest for ferries to/from Positano due to their docking situation: rough seas are most difficult for the boats to manage that one. So, while they may not be able to handle Positano, they may still run from, say, Sorrento or Amalfi where there are more stable ferry terminals.

I have read that if the weather is bad enough to cancel ferries from Capri, then you must find an accommodation on the island for the night. As no one would be getting TO the island, I don't think that would be difficult, although Capri prices certainly are not inexpensive. It's also possible for cancellations to occur for parts but not ALL of a day. You might try googling (I know, I know; everyone hates that research method but....) the question to see what's out there? For instance, at quick glance I found this:

While it's a post from 7 years ago, the general weather cancellation issue + Positano docking limitations have not changed so it's not outdated. Oh, and as you would not be departing from/embarking at Positano, its particular docking limitations wouldn't be an issue for you.

Yes, if you couldn't get to Capri at all on your scheduled day, you'd have to find an accommodation on the mainland. I would think that the Capri hotel would refund your reservation if you can't get there!?? I mean, duh?🤔
