Planning to visit this area in September for three nights. Which town do you suggest we stay in? Would love the experience to stay in a cliffside hotel, any suggestions on hotel?

Sorrento for sure. From there you can bus or hire a driver to Amalfi, Positano and do not forget Ravello on bus route 15 min from Amalfi up th hill by the same bus.

In Sorrento I have stayed in two cliffside hotels with pools and amazing views Settimo Cielo and the Minerva, both great and in Rick's books

The ferry ride to Positano is so fun looking up the cliffs with the clinging buildings and into that special blue colored sea.

Europe especially Italy is addictive. Hope you have alot of time. September is a great travel month.
