Amalfi or Ravello in October

Hi,

I'm planning on going to the Amalfi Coast in mid-Oct and need to book a place to stay ASAP and trying to figure out which town to stay in -- appreciate advice! Ravello's beautiful views and opportunities for great hikes really interests me but Amalfi seems more central for getting around. My concern is if I stay in Ravello-- will it be tough to get around to see the other towns and get over to Capri? I tried to view the bus schedule but I'm not sure how to read it and it only runs through Sept. 8. Does anyone know how often the buses tend to run? Also appreciate any lodging suggestions -- clean, comfortable, safe as a solo traveler (room with a view, even better.)

How many nights total? Can you do a few in both?
We stayed in Amalfi and were very happy with that choice, transportation, more restaurants, etc. We also did 1 night in Ravello and were glad we did that as well, it is really lovely but the bus to/from is a pain/time consuming and there is just not as much in the town for a stay of more than a day or 2 IMO.

I have 6 days total. Thought about spending a few on Capri as well.

If you scroll down past the schedule, all the info you need is there, including ticket prices

https://www.positano.com/en/bus-schedule

F=weekdays. Think kids going to school, adults to work but available to tourists.

G=daily. Monday-Saturday.

H= Sunday & Holidays.

Sliding the schedule to the left makes it easier to read.

My preference would be to spend the first night in Ravello, use that day plus part of the next day
Then transfer by 30 minute bus to Amalfi. There are some nice hikes from there too. 3-4 nights Amalfi. Which should give you enough time to
visit most of the other towns. Use ferrys as often as possible, they will save valuable time.
Ferry from Amalfi-Capri spending 2 nights will give you a good amount of time to explore most of the island.

Where will you be coming from? If by train from Rome, the easiest way to Ravello is...train from
Rome-Salerno. Ferry Salerno-Amalfi then bus to Ravello.

Ravello is high up the cliffs from Amalfi which rises up from the water. If you stay in Amalfi, you can walk to the buses and ferries to visit the rest of the coast. If you stay in Ravello, you have to get up and down from Amalfi before you can get a bus or ferry. That means a scenic long hike up or down or the 25-30 minute bus ride.

A couple days ago I compared the current summer SITA schedules to the winter ones I have from 2 years ago when I was there. I was only looking at how late the Ravello bus runs and it seemed to be about the same. If you like, PM me your email and I can send you the pdf files for the winter SITA bus schedules: Ravello/Amalfi, Salerno/Amalfi, Sorrento/Amalfi. I'd assume the schedules for the months in between summer/winter would be at least as frequent as winter.
