Amalfi in March - Itinerary Decisions! Please help!

We are spending a few quick days in the Amalfi Coast after a stay in Rome at the end of March. Top priorities are to see Pompeii, Positano/Amalfi, hike the Path of the Gods and perhaps see Ravello. I would love input on our itinerary based on it being the end of March! I know things will be subject to weather, but let’s assume best case scenario. We are a fit and active young couple, we tend to get bored easily so don’t like to stay in one place too long.

Day 1: travel from Rome to Pompeii via train. Should we then go to Salerno or Sorrento for the night? (See below for what we want to do the next day)

Day 2: travel to Amalfi early in the morning probably via bus if no ferries are available. On this day we want to see some of Amalfi, hike Path of Gods to Positano, and then explore Positano. Should we stay the night in Amalfi or go back to Salerno or Sorrento (whichever we choose for day 1)? We weren’t sure if enough places would be open in Amalfi to have a nice evening there at that time of the year.

Day 3: potentially see Ravello in the morning if we stay in Amalfi, then travel to Naples.

Day 4: early morning flight out of Naples

Is it best to stay in Salerno or Sorrento for both nights in case weather is bad? Maybe there are more things to do indoors?

Is it worth trying to squeeze in Ravello at that time of year?

We also considered staying in Amalfi both nights, but didn’t want to be bored in the evenings.

Thank you!!!

Salerno is probably a better base as long as you see Pompeii on your way south on Day 1. Also, Salerno to Amalfi (town) is easy by bus. Are you aware you need transportation up to the Path of the Gods? I looked at it years ago and was never able to work it in, but as I recall there is an infrequent bus to Bomerano but I may have that wrong as a starting point. You could stay in Positano, Amalfi, or Ravello (my favorite), but would you backpack your stuff with you?

Thanks! Yes planning to see Pompeii en route on day 1 regardless of where we stay that night. From what I have read we would take a bus to Amalfi then Bomerano to start the hike. We are traveling very light but would either need to leave our bags in Salerno then travel back there that evening, or try to leave it early at the place we would stay in Amalfi so it’s there when we return from the hike.
