I know a guide is not a necessity but might be a wonderful local addition. I am debating using a tour company, that provides lodging, maps , information, bus schedules and luggage transfers vs doing it on my own and hiring a guide once or twice for enjoyment. I recognize I am really paying the tour company for luggage transfers and lodging, everything else i can do. Someone name Frank is mention but I cannot find contact information and another named Zia. Any thoughts?
If you are thinking about a tour company and not just a private guide, we really love Backroads hiking trips, although have not done Amalfi with them. Here is the link:

We used Zia Lucy for our day of hiking. She's great.
Just google these hikes in Amalfi and go, you don't need a guide
Il Vallone delle Ferriere 6km easy
La Torre dello Ziro 5km easy
Punta Campanella 4 km easy
La Baia di Ieranto 6 km medium
The most famous and well-known hike in Amalfi is
Path of the Gods - Il Sentiero Degli Dei 8km easy
We just read a lot about the Path of the Gods, then took the SITA bus from Praiano to Amalfi, then the bus to Naples, and got off with the others at the beginning of the Path. Bomerano. Take plenty of water. We followed the Path and came down from above Positano. Then bus back to Praiano.
That was the only hike we took on the Amalfi Coast.
I don't think you mean you took the bus to Naples. Please clarify.
