Amalfi Coast wedding and hiking

We will be in Amalfi for my daughter's wedding in May 2025. We will spend 4 days pretty. much on family / wedding events. After that we planned to spend some time in Amalfi before going to Florence. A couple of questions:

We have a hotel in Amalfi and would like to spend time hiking including Path of the Gods. It seems to be challenging to get from place to place (we will have luggage from the wedding as well). Would you recommend staying put in the Amalfi hotel and using that as a base for hiking, getting to Path of the Gods, seeing other towns or is it easy enough to relocate to another location? we are both mid to late 60s but fit and very willing to walk distances and actually prefer that to taking a bus or a car, if reasonable.

Would you move closer to the beginning of Path of the Gods if that is a hike that we want to do? And do you think that relying on bus transportation is reasonable?
Thanks for any advice!

Welcome!

There are dozens of threads here that discuss transportation and more on the AC

A search will bring them up

If you are going rely on ferries and buses then staying in Amalfi is your best bet as it is the transportation hub
You chances of getting on a bus on Amalfi are better than any smaller village/bus stop
Taxis are also available

Amalfi is fine as a base--you have to get transport to the trail head for PotG anyway. But, if you think you might want a change of pace at that point, any town in the ferry line is fine as a base (as is Atrani, which is a brief walk from Amalfi).
There are some trails that you can access right from Amalfi.
I'd check out the two books that detail the hiking paths on the peninsula and islands (One published by Cicerone and the other by Sunflower).
