Amalfi coast vs. Sicily

We've got about 6 days we want to spend somewhere in the southern portion of Italy. I was originally thinking Amalfi Coast,,,,but am now wondering if Sicily might be interesting to explore. We will have 2 teenagers who like adverntures...not just shopping or walking around.
We are OK with the heat (we are used to that)

I personally, loved Sicily. We did the East Coast, basing in Taormina. Mt. Etna is still active and your teens will probably like a site-seeing trip to that. I used Magicofsicily.com and had a great driver/destination expert. Best vacation of my life. Sicily is very big much bigger than you think, and six days won't even scratch the surface! We did several of the day trips with them, including a wonderful vineyard, farm and even a trip to Salmonca, where Godfather I was filmed. I am returning this September. Take a look at the website, and see if your teenagers would enjoy these excursions. We opted not to drive ourselves, and found the rates reasonable. Either sounds like a fun trip. Someone who's more familiar with Amalfi will comment on this area.
