Greetings - we will be spending a day touring the Amalfi Coast - traveling from Sorrento.
We would like to follow the recommendation of traveling by bus to the coast and returning by boat.
Looking for guidance on small tours of Positano/Amalfi and possibly including at lease some portion of the Path of the Gods hike. Our trip will be mid October.

Path of the Gods Hike is not really suited for doing just a portion; works best to do a full one way
The Amalfi side is really not close to anything else
You could take the local bus from Positano to the town above and start the Path of the Gods hike from there ; maybe walk an hour and turnaround and retrace your steps
Would not be on my list of things to do with just 1 day but maybe works for you
The path runs from Bomerano to Nocelle. As noted above, you can enter from the Nocelle end and hike for bit until you come to a place where you can take a higher path and a lower path. We were staying at Nocelle, so we hiked from Nocelle, took the upper path at the split, and then took the lower path when the paths came together again to head back to Nocelle.

I agree with mreynolds, though. I'm not sure this would be on my list of things to do if I just had a single day in the area.
