Amalfi Coast tour car vs. boat

Hello - I have a private driver booked for a tour of the Amalfi Coast but reconsidering if we should do by boat? Would like to get some time on and in the water. Maybe we could do a boat ride when we visit Capri? Any opinions or suggestions? Thank you.

You can’t get to Ravello by boat. In my opinion, it is the prettiest of the towns; and there are wonderful views you can’t see from down below.

And the ferry ride to Capri will be be fun. You can also take a boat ride around Capri.

We just returned from 4 nights on the AC. We stayed in Furore, residential town b/t Positano and Amalfi. Our favorite day of the trip was the boat tour we did. He picked us up in Amalfi, toured the coast, swam a bit, he arranged for lunch in Capri, then back to Amalfi. It was breathtaking. We took the bus ourselves to Ravello then hiked down. Also did a day on the beach in Positano.

Lynn, I think you're staying in Sorrento? The Mondo "Capri in Private Boat" tour of Capri sees really positive comments - actually, all of the Mondo shared tours get high marks - and is a R.S. partner besides. Might be the ticket?

I'd personally skip the optional Blue Grotto excursion and spend that time exploring other parts of the island instead but that's just me.

If money allows I would do the boat. We did car and used the high speed ferry and I wish we had done one private boat tour or semi-private at least in Capri for sure. We did high speed ferry to Amalfi and took a taxi to Ravello (50 euro each way for the taxi)

The Blue Grotto was amazing. However, apparently your time is limited. It takes about 4-5 days to see Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.

we did the Mondo tour to Capri in May
It was fabulous
Blue Grotto was closed but we had no desire to do that anyway
The best part of the day was the boat trip around the island, just wonderful
