Amalfi Coast Tour

Hello everyone! A friend and I will be traveling to Sorrento in August and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good touring company for the Amalfi Coast. I contacted Monetti Taxi company but they are a bit pricey for us. We would love to see the coast as well as Pompeii, anything else would be a bonus.

We used Sorrento Silver Star for a day trip from Amalfi - took us up to Ravello, around 'the back way' past Naples stopping in Sorrento and Positano. We could have had a few more stops, but it started raining and we were hot and tired from walking around. I balked a little at the price (I'm more of a budget traveler and our Canadian dollar doesn't have the buying power of the US$) but when I thought about it being a private car (Mercedes van - thank God for air conditioning!) driving us around for 8-9 hrs, when I broke it down for 3 people, it wasn't that bad (and my mom said it was her fav day of our trip, so totally worth it).

You could do Pompeii on your own from Sorrento and either walk around on your own with a map (maybe they have audio guides?) or join up with one of the tours at the train station which is what we did (right outside the entrance). Or check into Walks of Italy - not sure if they offer group tours to Pompeii from Sorrento or only from Rome or Naples...

Last October we used https://www.mondoguide.com/city-tours. At the top of the website you will see a tab for Shared Tours for Rick Steves. This company offers small group tours for €50 each and I thought it was great. The driver was informative and engaging, and we stopped in all the right places. It was well worth the cost. Years ago I used Monetti Taxi, and I have to say, this was just as enjoyable.

We are going to be in Sorrento this August as well and plan to use the Rick Steves shared tours via Mondo Guide. They have multiple to choose from, including an Amalfi Coast trip, a Capri trip and a Pompei tour. We've only received confirmation for one so far...you have to wait for the slots to fill up before it's confirmed. It seems that most people wait until closer to the date to sign up, so we're just waiting for others to join.

We used Carlo Arcucci of Wisely Travelling (http://www.wiselytravelling.com). We were based in Sorrento & he took us for the day up the Amalfi Coast. It was about 8-9 hours. He was extremely knowledgeable & pleasant. We had both time with him & time to explore on our own. Would not hesitate to use him again.

While in Sorrento, we met a very nice and capable local taxi driver who spoke excellent English (and French). If you are planning to spend any time in the Amalfi Coast area (Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello), and want an alternative to public transportation, I highly recommend Massimo website: www.amalficoastdaytour.com He has a very nice 8 passenger van, and we were very pleased with his services.
