I am going to Italy early May 2011 and will be staying in Sorrento before moving on to Catania Sicily. I have 3 days between when I leave Sorrento and have to be in Catania. Any ideas on the best things to see and do along the way? Or should I just add days to either destination and make the trip straight without stops? It is my first trip to Italy and I am looking for some tips from people who have been there.
I agree with Giovanna. Go to Whichbudget.com to check out the budget airlines that ply that route. Go to the bookstore and pick up some travel guides for both areas. When Rick does not cover an area we use the Lonely Planet guidebooks.
Catania is near the beautiful towns of Taormina, and Syracuse. Read about those towns, and the surrounding areas, and see what picques your interests. Read and explore the idea of staying at an Agritourisimo or B&B.
Have fun! The water will just be starting to warm up, so don't forget to plan a trip to the beach!
Add days to either destination and fly Air Italy from Naples to Catania.
Thanks I really appreciate your advice. I think we will either spend a few more days in Sicily or use the days to go north to Florence. Not sure yet, but I will definately look into taking a flight to sicily from Naples.
