Amalfi Coast & Single Female Traveler

I'm considering a trip to A.C. end of Aug/beginning of September or later Sept for about 10 days, thinking of basing in Sorrento or should I do Positano? I'm a 40y.o.+ female traveling solo, is this a good base? Are there accommodations that are "budget friendly" for someone like me that you can recommend ($100 US or less/night)? Is it better to go hotel route or rent an apartment? Would love to stay somewhere with water views and close to beach, but convenient to other amenities, sightseeing, public transportation, etc. I plan to do a combo of sightseeing, beach and vegging out. Has anyone done snorkeling there, is it an option? Thanks for any advice!

Hi Tina! I would suggest renting an apartment in Positano for a week and then spending the rest of your time in Sorrento. Renting an apartment really saves $$, because it is generally cheaper than a hotel and you don't have to eat out for every meal. Your issue is going to be finding a place at this late date. Try www.summerinitaly.com, www.vrbo.com, www.villalesirene.com, and tripadvisor for a vacation rental search. Good luck! I just returned from renting a place in Pos for a week and totally fell in love with the AC!!

Sorrento is a much better base than Positano for transportation to other great places. We liked Positano and enjoyed being there (twice) but we always stay in Sorrento, which we love. Take a look at Sorrento City Hotel.
