Amalfi Coast shoes & luggage

We'll be doing a lot of hiking on the Amalfi Coast in April. Will I be fine with my athletic shoes or do I need to bring my light weight water resistant hiking shoes? I'm also trying to decide whether to bring a rolling suitcase. Will it be usable for getting to and from trains and buses in Positano, Sorrento, Atrani?

For a lot of hiking, I would want hiking shoes. It could be wet. I think the places you mention would be great tests for a rolling suitcase - stairs, steep cobblestoned streets, etc.
