Should we make ferry reservations from Sorrento to Capri? Is there a certain ferry we should use?

After touring Capri for the day we want to get to Salerno -- can we take a ferry from Capri to Salerno? Should we make those reservations ahead of time?

we just bought our ferry tickets to capri, at the wharf area in sorrento, no reservation, the ferry was very large so held a lot of people. that was in may.
not sure about capri to salerno, but you should be able to look this up, try google.
