Amalfi Coast - places to stay during the fall of 2018

We went to book lodging for travel to Amalfi Coast in late September of 2018 and the places mentioned in Rick's book are all booked. Any thoughts as to why? Is there a famous event in this area in late September?

In light of this, do folks have any recommendations of other places to stay in Sorrento or along the coast?

Thanks, Brad and Mary

Look for lodging at booking.com.

Hotel I'll Nido is up in the hills, great views, super staff and a fantastic restaurant. They have a shuttle that runs you into town. About 1 1/2 miles.
Bus stop is also close by.

We stayed at the Hotel Bristol in March of last year. It was excellent - fantastic breakfast buffet and a spectacular Bay of Naples view from our room's balcony. It is on Via Capo, about a 15-minute walk downhill to the center of Sorrento. The hotel has an old world feel but was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

Popular area that is only growing in popularity, shortage of lodging options, all of Sept is still a very busy time there.
I suspect there are still good options available and I am sure Airbnb type short term rentals will have decent availability but some of the best value places being already booked does not surprise me. If you said the same about Oct I would be surprised.

You are talking about quite a few towns / large region so hard to recommend one place without more info,
I stayed at the Hotel Bel Air in Sorrento and the Hotel Eden Roc in Positano ; loved them both ; each with amazing views but not sure that helps.

I usually start booking stuff 9 months out for popular spots ; but also try to have as many of them as possible with free cancellation as I tweak my plans often around the 4-6 month mark ; as that is more common time to book flights.

Last year I stayed in Amalfi Town at the Villa Annalara, owned and operated by two brothers who are passionate about Amalfi, the Coast and their hotel. It is small, only 6 large well-appointed rooms. To get there, you enter a garden at street level, walk through a tunnel and then take a half minute elevator ride to the hotel. Large terrace with spectacular views over the town and the coast. Here’s a link.

Did you get responses directly from the places that they are completely booked or did you only see that when trying to book online? A lot of the places on the AC could still be closed for the winter. Or they might not have their rates yet for the fall.
