Amalfi Coast/Naples in October?

Hello everyone,

Is it ok to visit the Amalfi Coast/Naples area in October weather-wise? I'm looking at the 3rd week in October. I don't mind mild weather but I don't want a week straight of rain. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Best regards//Rob

You can see weather averages including avg precipitation on a variety of websites. However nobody can guarantee what the weather will be when you are there. It could be a straight week of rain even in August.

Thank you for the quick response. Sorry if I came across as looking for an absolute. There are no guarantees for sure. I'll check out some sites and see what I can find. I was hoping perhaps someone who has been there around that time of year could reflect on their experience.

Robjfiore,

You may want to check this website for more information:http://www.currentresults.com/Weather/index.php

As Roberto mentioned, the weather can be nice or it can be rainy, so bring a light water resistant jacket, just in case!

You don't need to pack an umbrella as there are vendors who will pop up everywhere at the first drop of rain!

Of my October travels around the Mediterranean, I can't recall more than a day or half-day of serious rain at a time. Right before departure from home is a good time to double-check weather forecasts. Luckily, I did so before a (hot) October trip to Spain, instead of packing the same clothes I had used the year before in (rainy) Bulgaria.

I was in Sorrento last October 24-28, and the weather was quite lovely. Just a bit of drizzle one morning. It's possible that I was just lucky, but I didn't hit by any heavy rain showers on that trip until Nov. 5th in Venice.

Disagree with Priscilla. A small decent quality umbrella is worth carrying. The 5euro umbrellas sold by vendors last 5 minutes, assuming no wind. Why be wasteful. Use an umbrealla you can keep for future trips.
