With construction continuing on a new passenger terminal at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, commercial
flights will start up in July 2024 with Volotea Airlines being one of the first to fly travelers to Salerno. Other airlines, such as Ryanair, are in talks with airport officials to begin flights into the airport this summer, and more than 400,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport during the 2024 summer.
Completely closed since 2016, the Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport is 28 miles from the town of Amalfi after which the famous coastline is named.
After the new passenger terminal is completed by 2027, forecasts are that eventually 6 million passengers will be flying through the Salerno airport every year.
Mamma Mia!
Oh my!
Glad we’ve been there.
Hmm... doubt very many day trippers will be flying in/out.
The number of lodging rooms in the area will remain the limiting factor of how crowded the area will be.
Very exciting for Salerno! I can just imagine the Terravision (well, I don't know if they are still around, but that was the bus name that I used to take to Ciampino in Rome from Termini) buses up and down the coast dropping off folks!
