Has anyone been to the Amalfi coast in October? We are thinking of maybe going there the first week of October and were wondering what the weather might be like and if it would be worth it.
Thanks,
Dan

We stayed on the Amalfi + Sorrentine through the 2nd week in October and had great weather...although it poured rain on the train from Rome. It was plenty warm during the day, and only needed a light jacket on some of the evenings.
There's no guarantee what Mother Nature will throw you during same week (or different Oct. week) this year, next year, etc: Take a look at some historic averages for an idea of average temps, precipitation, etc.

We were on the AC last week of September 2025 and the weather was lovely- no rain, mild temps, a bit cooler at night.
Don't expect the crowds to be gone but it will not be as crowded as it is earlier in the season. I would book lodgings as soon as you decide. Early October is still very much tourist season.
We were in Salerno middle of October 2024 and the weather was generally great. October used to be klte season on Amalfi and you were considered to be rolling the dice on weather but the last couple of years it has been great since it is staying hotter later in the year generally. We did everything else on our list figuring we would lose some days to weather but we didn't so we did a day on the AC. We really probably could have gone any of the 8 days we were there although some we sunnier we didn't get rained on or blown out, but no one in Salerno was going on the beach.
I still found Positano to be overly crowded but by all accounts it was 15% of the normal crowds, but I guess that's why I'm not an AC kind of guy. The coastline is amazing from the sea and when you reach the limits of town - like near the paper factory in Amalfi - you can get a sense of what it must has been like when it was quiet and nature adjacent. The stretch of coastline from Amalfi to Positano was the best area IMHO.
We spent a day doing the ferry from Salerno and in October it was easy - just approach the dock and ask when the next one was and get on. We never waited more than 20 minutes or so for a ferry going Salerno > Positano > Amalfi > Salerno in a day. The bus area in Amalfi seemed crowded and confused when we passed through it in the off season so I can't imagine what it's like in full season.
Hope that helps,
