Amalfi Coast in late May

We've been to Cinque Terre, Lake Como. Now we're heading to the Amalfi Coast for 10 days. Any suggestions on where to stay, etc. Use one or two cities as a base? We may fly into Rome or Naples. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Positano would be my first choice.
Many people who don't have a car prefer to stay in Sorrento. Sorrento is not on the Amalfi Coast but fairly close by bus. Sorrento gives better access to Naples and Pompei, thanks to the Circumvesuviana train line from Naples to Sorrento.

Sorrento would be good for trips to Pompei, Ercolano, Capri, Napoli.

To stay on the Amalfi Coast itself, I like Praiano or Ravello, although Ravello is in the hills and taking daytrips from there will require some additional bus time.

I would split your time up. I would stay in Sorrento and use it as a base for Capri and Pompeii. I would stay in Iconic Positano and you can use that as a base to see Ravello and Amalfi. We stayed at Hotel California (the setting in Under The Tuscan Sun). It is half way up, and a nice hotel. No pool though.

We used Positano for our base for a week last September and found it very convenient. We rented an apartment with a terrace and the most amazing view!
