Amalfi Coast in July. Better to go on Sunday or Monday?

We are staying in Sorrento the first week of July.
Doing the standard Positano & Amalfi town visits via bus & then return to Sorrento on ferry.
For scheduling, I would prefer Sunday over Monday, but wondering....
- Are the crowds worse on Sunday because it's a weekend?
- Are there many places closed on Sundays?

Guidance please?

It's summer so there are tourists galore . . . you can't get away from them. Also, because of the tourists I doubt seriously you will find places closed. Churches will have requests that you do not visit during Mass unless you are there for worship. Makes sense to me.
Hmmm, have you considered reversing your travel method? Unless you catch the bus right at the train station in Sorrento you will possibly have to stand. Even if you get a seat (on the right side if you want the "scary" views), you'll have lots of people hanging over you. I remember ineffective deodorant, cameras hitting my head, people falling onto me at quick turns. Ever since then I take the ferry from Sorrento and return via bus. Frankly, the views from the ferry are more impressive. But that's my opinion.

I haven't looked at the schedules for the coast in particular, but usually Sundays have fewer buses, meaning more people on the few that there are.....I would plan on a ferry (or as the pp said, make sure you get on the bus at the terminus, with a better chance of getting a seat or at least getting ON a bus that isn't too crowded to pick you up) for that trip, but for better bus options, I would go Monday....

I am planning on taking the brightly-colored, commercial "Citysightseeing" bus.
(Not the SITA bus). And I believe the "Citysightseeing" schedule applies for all 7 days of the week.

Sounds like you don't think the Sunday will be noticeably worse, with respect to crowds?

Conventional wisdom is to take the bus outbound from Sorrento, to get the best views.
But maybe going against conventional wisdom as you suggest, will be a better strategy?
( i.e. reversing my plan and instead do the ferry to Amalfi and the bus back to Sorrento).
