My husband and I are visiting the Amalfi Coast for the first time. We are considering a few days in Positano, Sorrento and Capri but we are open to suggestions. The hotels that looked wonderful are all $1,000 a night. We would like to spend under $500. The most important thing is an amazing view of the water. If possible we would like to be able to walk to town in Positano and maybe be on the beach in Capri. Would love ideas. Thanking you in advance.
Plenty of hotels in your budget range... What dates will you be in the Amalfi as that will determine rates and availability?
We've stayed at Hotel La Tonnarella in Sorrento 3 times because we liked it so much. First visit we had a room with a large. private terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples, Sorrento and Capri... it was breathtaking and worth every penny (and still well below your budget). 2nd and 3rd visit we had a room with a nice size patio and view of Capri. They have a restaurant with very good food (in warm weather they serve dinner on their large terrace), friendly staff, a wonderful breakfast buffet, several public terraces, lots of flowers, amazing views and a private beach which we really enjoyed. Swimming or floating around in the Med was very fun.
It's a short and beautiful walk into the main part of town, or very easy to catch a bus coming or going.
Sorrento is our favorite place in Italy... enjoy!
We stayed at Villa La Tartania in Positano last June and pictures you see on their website are exactly what you get, maybe two minutes walk to beach, it calls itself a B&B as you do get a continental breakfast but we thought it was more of a boutique hotel and it was perfect, paid 200 euro a night for seaview room with balcony.
