Amalfi Coast Hotel Suggestions Please

My husband and I will be going to the Amalfi Coast and plan to stay in Sorrento for three nights and in Positano three nights.

In reading about hotel reviews in Positano everyone recommends the places that they've stayed with grand reviews and it is difficult to determine which place is the best for us.

We are considering Hotel Marincanto in Positano.

We are looking at Hotel Antiche Mura in Sorrento.

Please share any experiences and favorite hotels on the Amalfi Coast.

Thanks

Be aware of the large number of steps at Marincanto and that Antiche Mura does not have a sea view location. Otherwise, good hotels.

Both towns book up six to twelve months in advance. Don't assume you will be able to get your first choice. Make sure of your onward plans (timing) if they are from Positano, which is much harder to travel from than Sorrento.

Because I couldn't get my first six choices, we stayed at the Ambasciatori in Sorrento, which I think Rick describes as a "worthwhile splurge." It's a little too far to walk with luggage from Circumvesuviana (taxi 15 Euro seemed a little dear, however), but easy enough to walk to the center of town for dinner. Very luxurious, fierce air conditioning, and (extra pricing) fabulous, magnificent views. Swimming platform in the gulf, accessed by elevator in this cliffside hotel.

As others noted, be clear about luggage services and step count in Positano. We didn't sleep there, but did visit a famous and very expensive hotel, La Sireneuse. We didn't see the rooms, but their balcony bar and pool deck was underwhelming. The pool was about 8' x 16'.

We've stayed at Hotel Antiche Mura and enjoyed it very much. No, it doesn't have views of the sea but it does have nice outdoor areas. Superb guest services and good breakfast; just a block or so from Piazza Tasso but noise was never a problem. Easy walk to/from the train station. Not having a view wasn't a big deal to us as we spent the bulk of our days out and about anyway, and we enjoyed resting heels in the garden with a cocktail after loooong day at Pompei.

Suki, Is there a hotel or location for a hotel that we might search for in Positano with fewer steps? Since we haven't been there it's difficult to picture the type of issue you brought to my attention. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
