Amalfi Coast - Help with the Itinerary!

I am planning a trip to the Amalfi coast with a few friends, but we only have about 6 days for the whole trip. I was hoping that we could have a non-touristy experience, with a focus on smaller towns. I have never been to this area, and I don't really have an idea on how to split the cities. Please let me know if this is reasonable! Rome - 2 days, June 2- June4 Rome - Naples 1 day, June 4- June 5
Pompei - one morning, June 5th morning Sorrento - 3 days June 5-June 8th, with excursions to Amalfi, Capri. I was hoping for as authentic of an experience as possible, and I was wondering if Sorrento may be too touristy of a city to have as a base. Please let me know! Thanks in advance :)

Stacey, Your itinerary look good to me. IMHO the area of Amalfi coast are all touristy during the summer. The most crowded place will be Capri Island, feel like NY city.
Have a good trip.

Stacey, Your Itinerary looks quite "busy" but it's feasible. Could you clarify if you were planning to stay in Naples one night? Also, were you planning on visiting Pompeii on the way from Naples to Sorrento? IMO, Sorrento is a great "home base" for touring that area. I wouldn't worry about it being "too touristy", as many places in Italy are "touristy". Is this close to what you have in mind: > June 2 - Arrive Rome > June 3 - Rome > June 4 - Train to Naples, tour Naples > June 5 - Train to Sorrento; stop at Pompeii on the way > June 6 - Sorrento > June 7 - Amalfi > June 8 - Capri Do you return home at this point, or travel elsewhere? Happy travels!

Stacey, Thanks for the additional information. I assume that the Itinerary that I mentioned would work then? How are you planning to get to London? Although you'll be there prior to the start of the Olympics, it would be a good idea to increase your budget for accommodations in London. I've seen some information that room prices there have increased substantially in the last few months. Cheers!

Hi, Thanks for your responses! We are planning to stay in Naples on night. We were then going to visit Pompeii on the way to Sorrento. After the trip, I am planning to go to London. Thanks again! Stacey

Sorrento is our favorite place in Italy, we love it. It's the perfect base to just hang out and relax or for going to many other places. We've been there 3 times for a week each time and hated to leave each time. We can never get enough of it.
