We are planning to spend a few days, of a 14 day trip, on the Amalfi Coast. We will be coming in from Naples. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good "anchor" B&B or hotel, as we would prefer to stay in one place while touring the area?
Well I love the Hotel Puppetto in Positano. It's a five minute walk from the main town center, it has it's own beach and a secret elevator to a parking lot above town. It has a great restaurant and bar with limoncello chilling in the barside freezer. The rooms have balconies overlooking the sea.
Thanks, Doug. Is Sorrento the best place to "see the coast" from, or should we consider another city for home base while we're there?
I have been there twice & I prefer to stay in Sorrento. Lots of B&B's there. You can stay in town or outside. Albergo Settimo Cielo is beautiful with a great view from every room. It is outside of town but a do-able walk. Otherwise there is a bus right across the street.
Hotel Savoia is very convenient to everything & a great breakfast too.
We stayed in Positano as home base for the Amalfi Coast and loved the B&B La Tavolozzo. It is built into the side of a hill, so has beautiful views of the ocean and town. The host, Celeste, is wonderful and she and her family will do everything to make your stay just right.
Very clean, and fabulous breakfast served on your terrace with cappucino, croissants, and fresh orange juice. Would definitely stay there again.
Staying here on our trip - was able to find a very reasonable rate online www.mediterraneosorrento.com. This was our splurge at the end of our trip to really relax before heading back home.
Thanks everyone. The wife and I will actually get a chance to lok this over tomorrow!
