My wife is nervous about the Amalfi drive. e were thinking it might be easier to boat from Sorrento to Amalfi and pick up a take us to Ravello for lunch and then Positano and back to Sorrento. Any advice re: safe driers and boat travel in the area

If your are nervous about driving from Sorrento to Amalfi, I don't blame you. However, the bus runs from Sorrento to Amalfi and should be nothing to be nervous about. If you want a nice view, set on the right side going to Amalfi. If the view would make you nervous, just sit on the left side. There is a bus from Amalfi to Ravello. Have lunch at the restaurant where the bus s you off, can't remember the name. The food is good and the view is fantastic. Depending on the time of year, you can take the boat in either direction, but the views from the bus are unforgetable.

It seems that a number of people find the bus ride less anxiety provoking than riding by car. Is it different if you hire a car and driver for the trip?

Hi David we just left amalfi and we used a car service called sorrentosilverst silver star. Luisa makes the arrangements and she was wonderful. We were traveling with 2 toddlers who needed car seats. We had 2 fantastic drivers Maximo picked us up in Naples. Timely efficient and nice. Another day Dominica took us for the scenic drive to positano sightseeing and lunch. He was informative funny and very helpful. This agency was so wonderful to us I could go on and on
