Amalfi Coast and Sicily - It's almost here!

I've been following topics on this forum related to our itinerary, and have a good degree of confidence in the plans we have made given our constraints. We are a family with 2 daughters age 17 and 20 who are relatively experienced travelers. We are comfortable being on the move in order to experience different sights and locations. That being said, if there are any last minute gems of advice I would love to hear them.

Departing May 24 arriving Naples NAP late morning May 25.
Taking bus or ferry (recommendations?) to Sorrento.
Days 1-4 Sorrento (4N) Explore Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Capri
Day 5 Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii and on to Naples (2N)
Day 6 Naples - Archaeological Museum and explore Naples
Day 7 Eldest daughter flies back to US, remaining family fly to Catania, arriving late morning
pick up rental car and drive to Siracusa/Ortigia (3N)
Day 7-9 Hang out in Ortigia and drive around the area - Noto, maybe Ragusa Ibla
Day 10 Drive 2 hours(?) to Piazza Armerina (1N)
Day 11 Villa Romana in the morning, drive to Agrigento 1-1/2 hours(?) (1N)
Day 12 Valle dei Templi in the morning, drive to Palermo via Monreale (2-1/2 hours?) and drop off car (3N)
Day 13-15 Explore Palermo, maybe Cefalu?
Day 15 Palermo, evening flight to NAP (1N)
Day 16 early morning flight home
We are super excited, and I intend to write a trip report when we return. Wish us luck!

Looks like a good plan! I am not fond of one night stays but I think there is reason to yours.

I like the ferry to Sorrento. Yes, it costs more and you have to get to the molo (dock) but it is less stressful than the Circumvesuviana and I do not like buses. 😛

Rick Steves’ guide has a good self-tour of Naples that we enjoyed. Consider a guide for Pompeii to make the most of your time.

We took the train from Naples to Sorrento, but on the return trip we took the ferry. It's very pleasant, and would be a great introduction to the area. It should really get you into the spirit of that part of Italy.

You're going to have a wonderful trip. Don't forget the trip report!

Looks great!

Although our next trip's Plan A is slated to be exploring Italy's Adriatic Coast from Venice to Bari/Lecce, I have an alternate plan that starts in Naples and goes through Maratea, through Calabria, the train/ferry over the Straits of Messina to Sicily, then Taormina and Cefalu, with a daytrip to Palermo (less than an hour away) and finally flying home from Palermo. Been investigating Cefalu and it looks to be a wonderful base, maybe better than Palermo.
