Amalfi

I posted a few days ago looking for advice on what to do from Minori, and you guys were awesome, so I thought I would try again - except this time for Amalfi.

One of our days on the Amalfi coast, we are planning to spend hiking from Minori to Ravello and then on to Amalfi.

I'm wondering what advice you all have on what we should do with our day in Ravello/Amalfi - is there any place to eat/drink/dessert that shouldn't be missed? Keep in mind we will be hiking so we probably will avoid anything fancy.

We are planning on taking the ferry back to Minori that evening - not sure if that will impact any suggestions.

Thanks,
Bryan

For me Ravello is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Not huge and nothing terribly fancy so I would eat any place in Ravello with a good view. The view up high is really spectacular

Do you like to cook? If so, there's a wonderful cooking class in Ravello. I haven't taken the class yet, but I hope to take the class next year.

Hard to match up "hiking" attire and sweat with "eat ... shouldn't be missed". We happened to eat at the detatched restaurant associated with Villa Cimbrone, Il Flauto di Pan. It was very expensive, but superb fine cooking with magnificent ocean views. I guess we came in late enough to get a view-table as a walk-in. I did not get the feeling that they would welcome shorts and tee shirts, but I didn't ask.

Because you mentioned "dessert", I will add that our main reason for going to Il Flauto di Pan was to have Delizia al Limone, the local special dessert. It was the best we had, including in Sorrento.
