Amalfi

We are planning a trip to Amalfi during May 23-30. We arrive in Sorrento from Dubai on May 23 and will be there until 30th.

Our plan:

May 24: Pompei and Vesuvius
25: Capri
26: Positano
27: Amalfi
28: Naples
29: Sorrento
30: Return to Dubai

Would appreciate suggestions.

Thank you.

With Best regards,

Pradeep

Where are you flying into and out of? Naples is closest and if so then I would move Naples from the 28th to the 29th and actually stay in Naples for at least the night before your flight and I would recommend two nights so you can explore Naples for the full day before your flight.

I would read up on the mechanics of getting from Sorrento to the Amalfi coast before you go since it can be logistically difficult, but hopefully not that crowded in May.

You might also think about moving your "Sorrento" day to the beginning of your trip so you're not charging off to Pompeii for a physically and mentally challenging day for your first day in Italy.

Have a great trip,

Positano does not need a full day-a few hours at most
Combine it all with Amalfi or skip in favor ofRavello

I wouldn’t want to day trip along coast 2 days in a row either-it is crowded and chaotic

Also wouldn’t do Pompeii and Vesuvius on same day
You have great views of Vesuvius from Sorrento

Agree with spending at least last night in Naples

We just returned from a similar trip. Agree with Christine, Ravello in favor of Positano. All we did in Positano was take the ferry back to Amalfi Town after our Path of the Gods hike. Capri, Vesuvius and Pompeii were all very crowded. Doing both on the same day doesn't seem feasible unless you're just checking it off your list. Capri was crowded too, we went straight to Ana Capri, did the chairlift to Mt Solare and the villa and left. The buses and ferrys were very crowded.

We walked up at opening time and bought at window. There is a limit on how many people are admitted but it's a lot. Check their website, you are going a month later than we did. Also take your passport. We didn't take ours and they asked for ID. They accepted a Costco credit card with my picture on it. If you know for sure what day you're going for peace of mind you can buy in advance. Also this time of the year it's open til 7. That was not on the website. It will be a lot less crowded after 3:00. It was very busy the day we were there

I agree about Ravello, I would spend at least a few hours there. I guess you’re doing a day trip every day except one? If yes, it just seems like a waste of time going back and forth. I would prioritize the two areas you really want to see (Capri, Amalfi Coast, Naples/Pompeii) and stay there. Seems to me you want so see too many places for too few days, so you’ll just superficially visit most of them.
