Now that we have our trip planned and are leaving in just a few weeks, we are unable to find a way to get to Compatsch for a look at Alpe di Suisi. Our plan was to go as a day trip from Bolzano. Our Rick Steves Italy book is a couple of years old and gives no indication that there is no cable car and no bus from early April to late May as we are now finding on the websites for the area. Is there a way to get to Compatsch in early May? If there is not, what would be a nice alternative day trip from Bolzano?
