Almalfi Coast Base

Hi we have 8 nights in October arriving late at night in Naples. We would like to see Pompeii, Capri and of course the Almalfi Coast. Is Sorrento a good base or should we stay in Positano or Almalfi. L

I would split the time, 4 nights in Sorrento to see Pompei. Ercolano, Capri, Archeological Museum in Napoli; and the other nights on the Amalfi Coast. I like Praiano, but any of the towns is fine. Make sure to see Ravello, or use that as your base (although it's in the hills above the Coast).
