What is the best way to travel around the towns in Almafi area? A couple friends and I would like to do some of the hiking in the area (for example "Path of the Gods"), but we are not sure what is the easiest way to get to and from some of the trail heads around the towns in the hills (for example San Michele, Bomerano) Additionally, some of the available hotels in the area are outside of the main cities like Almafi or Positano, but I am not sure what the best way to get to them is. Are taxis easy or are there frequent buses? My understanding is that public transportation can be infrequent in the morning and evenings.

The easiest thing to do is to stay in a town, such as a Amalfi, which is the transportation hub. From Amalfi, you can take the bus which runs early and frequent to Bomerano and walk the Path of the Gods from there. There are several other hikes in the area, all easily reached by taking the bus to the towns where the trail heads are. You did not mention what time of the year you will be going, however.
