Alla Marina Affittacamere in Riomaggiore or Stella Della Marina in Monterosso?

Hi, everyone,

I'm having a little trouble deciding between these two places. I think we'd prefer to stay in Riomaggiore–seems a bit more quaint and maybe less crowded in June–and the online reviews of Alla Marina are really great. Also, a room with a view is available. But Stella Della Marina gets good reviews, too (although not as good as Alla Marina), and it also has a terrace and rooms with balcony (which Alla Marina doesn't). We like the idea of a balcony or terrace because we are the type who like to come back to our room for a few hours during the day and just hang out, drink wine, look at the scenery. But I suspect we might be able to get the same a few steps away from Alla Marina in Riomaggiore since it's in the harbor.

And, in all honesty, I can't understand why Alla Marina's reviews are so stellar.

So, has anybody stayed in both places, and, if so, which did you prefer?
Also, what are the pros and cons of staying in Riomaggiore vs. Monterosso?

I suspect we'd be happy in either since we're not making a life-changing decision!

Thanks,
Dave

I have not stayed in above accommodations but have visited the CT & stayed in Monterosso.

Since Monterosso is the largest village in CT, it offers more restaurants, and it's the only village with a sandy beach.

Keep in mind that June is very crowded in the CT. I'd choose the hotel with the balcony,as it's always nice to have your own private space to enjoy the view & the sunsets!

I think Ken from Vernon, Canada has recommended this hotel in the past, so he may give you more information.
