Yikes! We just received emails from Alitalia simply stating that our flights from FCO to Palermo on September 6 have been cancelled. I called immediately and their customer service rebooked us the following morning. Just a heads up for anyone traveling that day. I was unable to get info about whether this was a pilot strike, ground crew, or whether this concerned just Alitalia. I see nothing online that shows any mention of this at all. So I guess we’ll have a longer layover than we anticipated! No problem. More gelato.
Also September 23 according to this:

Love the gelato attitude!
Thank you for the link! I visited that site, but apparently didn’t dig far enough. All good after initial freak out when I checked for other flights and none were listed...rookie mistake...didn’t think of the possibility of a strike!
Cathy,
Thank goodness the airline was able to rebook your tickets for the following morning!
You’ll be glad to get a good nights sleep in Rome before getting to Palermo : )
Gelato is always a great idea!
