Alitalia-Delta Codeshares

Has anyone flown FCO to JFK on the "New Alitalia" that shares a Delta codeshare?

I'm flying the other direction May 6. My connection in JFK is a Delta flight "operated by Alitalia" to FCO. I didn't now it was "new." I fly the first part of May ... I'll let you know how it goes if you are flying later.

I have and I prefer Alitalia to any of the other codeshare partners. I cashed in my skymiles and flew first class so I'm not sure what the rest of the bus is like but the front of the bus was way better than Delta, KLM, and Air France. The food is 10 times better and the wine is much more plentiful. I just returned from FCO using my miles again and flew first on Delta. It was a huge waste of miles. I had more leg room but had combative service, no wine/water, and aweful food. This is my only bad experience with Delta, but I will definitely look into Alitalia my next time. I'm sure this had something to do with the combined Northwest staffing they are going through as there was no way this was an accident. Everyone in the cabin was complaining. On Alitalia everyone spoke English and there was plenty of English/American entertainment options too. I have heard of issues with strikes but I think they just move you to another codeshare partner.

Yes, my flight from FCO to JFK is not until 6/8 so I'll be looking forward to your review! My friend used to be a flight attendant for Delta and she said when Northwest moved in things really got terrible. She finally quit.

Just got back 2 weeks ago and my flight was from FCO to Newark on Alitalia that codeshares with Delta. In my opinion, I did not like the Alitalia flight. The plane did not seem as up to date as the outbound Delta flight JFK to FCO as it only had the movie screens in the middle of the plane and not on either end. I couldn't see the screen at all because there was a tall person in front of me (unfortunately I was seated in the 3rd seat of the middle 4 seat group) The temp inside the plane alternated between stuffy and freezing. Some friends who took the Delta flight from FCO to JFK 1/2 hour later said they had a great flight with screens on the back of the seats.
If I had to do it again I would probably stay with Delta for both legs of the trip.

On your return trip from FCO to Newark--which airline did you check in with--Delta or Alitalia, and what terminal?? There has been some discussion on another forum about this same "codeshare" flight, and since we are in the same situation on our flight back this fall, I'm curious as to what the answer is! Thanks!
