Does anyone have recent experiences from the Toronto - Rome Alitalia flight or from Alitalia in general? Their Website is not helpful, neither is their local phone line. When do they open their check-in counters, are drinks free, are they cashless(like Air Canada),what is the food, and service, like?
Bill, please Google this. I would not fly with them unless it was a "quickie" between a couple of short stops. Do some reading on what can happen to your luggage, or you, for that matter if you fly with them.
Alitalia in general has a "bad reputation" but I've never had a problem with them. I've only flown them from JFK to Rome or Milan, so I can't comment on their Toronto service. And it's been a while, so I don't know about their current status or amenities. I can't be sure about Alitalia now, but most European airlines don't charge for food or booze (including hard liquor), so unless you're buying duty free in flight, you don't need to worry about cashless cabin policies.
