Alitalia connection to Rome from JFK

I know this topic has been discussed-but I am having trouble getting a clear picture. This week we fly Delta (domestically) to JFK then have 1 hr 40 minutes until Alitalia departs to Rome. From what I see we arrive in T4 and depart from T1--is this time enough and what do we need to do when getting off Delta flight to help insure we get to Alitalia gate in time for the flight to Rome? Again-sorry as I know this topic is not new-but am very anxious to get better info-Thanks very much!

Delta seems to think it is enough as they have several options with that transfer time. Even saw one at 1 hr 22 min.

Do a search for 'JFK terminal maps' and plot your course

As a personal choice I would have selected the direct ATL-FCO flight, or if big $$ saving involved by the JFK routing, an itinerary with a bit longer layover. ( especially at this time of year when weather in the NE can be unpredictable) But hindsight is always 20/20.

Good luck

At the checkin to the flight to JFK, you will get 2 boarding passes 1 for the first flight and 1 for the connecting flight to Rome.
If you are checking in luggage Delta will have it tagged to transfer to your flight from JFK to your final destination Rome.
When you arrive in JFK T4 you will have to take the free airtrain that goes between the terminals to T1.
Once at terminal 1 you will need to go through TSA screening, to get to the boarding gate for your flight to Rome.
The only problem is that if the first flight does not leave on time you may have to rush to make the flight to Rome.
