Alfmalfi Coast, by sea or land?

For several years now I take the ferry from Sorrento to Positano and then on to Amalfi. The views are spectacular, the ride is relaxing. Then I take the bus from Amalfi back to Sorrento. Best of both ways! Taxi? hmmm, never thought of it and probably never will.

My vote is for the ferry if you want views. Since I've never taken the Sita bus in either direction, I can't say what the views are like. But if you want to see Positano and Amalfi in all their glory, I'd recommend the ferry. Buon Viaggio!

When we stayed in Positano we arrived from Sorrento by the ferry. It was a fantastic way to arrive and coming in was exactly like the postcards/photos you see of Positano. We travelled there at the end of August so weather was beautiful and luckily sea was smooth so I guess if the conditions were right I would encourage you to catch the ferry to all those beautiful little towns.

We did the same thing on the ferry...But wevdid it from Salerno to Positano. It was magical. I do have to say there are more towns to see on the cliffs from Salerno than Sorrento.

My visit was in winter, so no ferries and pretty empty roads. The views from the road are terrific. I imagine the ones from the sea would be as good, but different. However, if you're going in high season, you may have trouble getting a place on the super crowded buses that gives you a view.

Talking arriving into Positano only ; definitely the ferry.
The rest of the ride probably the ferry but I don't think an obvious call as the view from the bus is also glorious and completely different. The bus views are probably even better than the ferry for most of the journey honestly but the ferry slower and less obstructions so easier to enjoy the views.

Best to take one in one direction and the other for the return so you see both.

Taxi... will sit in the same road traffic as the bus and view not as high so could never have a better view than the bus unless the bus is so full that you cannot get a window seat ; which definitely does happen.
