Hi
Have booked a hotel in Alberobello for late September. After reading all the reviews and info on it I now am concerned that it will be so crowed that we would be better off visiting early morning for a few hours and then stay somewhere else. Maybe Monopoli. Should we stay or not. Thanks for your input.
This past April I spent one night at the Grand Hotel Olimpo. It was good with a nice breakfast. A 5-10 minute walk to the center of the Trulli area.
It will be crowded but I toured in the late afternoon and early evening so it wasn't so crowded.
I recommend Osteria del Poeta for dinner.
We were there in May on the RS Southern Italy day stop. It was busy, but I didn’t find it uncomfortably crowded. Lucky you to get to spend the whole day.
It’s been 8 years since visiting Alberobello, but I recommend La Rosa de i Trulli, a B&B of actual trulli. We went in the heat of July but we loved it! Besides the unique beauty of the trulli buildings, the hosts were super kind and hospitable. I highly recommend it over a hotel.
The advantage of staying there is easily enjoying early mornings and evenings without crowds. But if you are bothered by bus tours and such, there are plenty of alternatives. We have stayed in Monopoli and Cisternino and enjoyed both.
Lucky you to be able to spend the night in Alberobello. I was on the same tour as Patty. Loved the trulli and wish we could have spent more time in Alberobello.
We were there in early October and did not find it crowded at all.
We stayed in Polignzno a Mare and also visited Monopoli. Both of these seaside towns are beautiful places to stay.
I was there in early May and it was so crowded it really took away from the experience. I found I was looking more forward to leaving than staying. I will never return as I did not find it worth it dealing with all the people.
