We're traveling from Lucca to Alba for a two night stay and are looking for recommendations for hotel and restaurants. There's nothing that I have found in the Rick Steves Italy book that talks about the immediate area around Alba. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If in town, I stayed in a lovely room called Casa Dellatorre. It is behind a cafe where you are served breakfast.
We had a wonderful meal at Osteria dei Sognatori.
It's all about the wine, so either tasting or enjoying the beauty of the vineyards are the main activities.

Osteria Vicoletto was recommended to us several years ago by an Italian we met in Parma and told we were headed to the Langhe. It is on a quiet side street near the center. We go back every time we visit Alba for the nice atmosphere, great service and authentic Piedmontese food and wine of course.

We also had a very memorable meal at Restaurant Marc Lanteri in Grinzne Cavour.
We stayed in an AirBnB inside the old walls, it was nice but we happened to be there over a festival weekend at it was very noisy at all hours. If you have a car, consider an Agriturismo outside of town. There are tons.
We used a local wine guide for a day of driving and loved the experience so much we have hired him to drive up to Verona in July and take us around there. His name is Evan Byrne and his company is PiemonteMio.
