Airport Transfers for group of 9

We are a family of 9 looking into private shuttle transfers from FCO airport to Termini station to board a train to Florence. We would also like to check the cost and availability if we hired a private transfer from FCO to Florence and skip the traveling by train.

Seems that you're really trying to avoid the trains (see previous thread). :O)

I've no personal experience with transfer services between Fiumicino>Florence - which is at least a 3-hour trip by road - but the couple I chose at random (using a random July date/time) for dummy estimates turned up prices of 940 euros and 968 euros for 9+ luggage. That's around the range of estimate I was seeing when researching your question back in February. Could you find something a bit lower? Possibly but we'll see if someone comes up with a suggested resource.

And then of course you'll be needing to return to Rome, and from Rome to Civitavecchia after your stay there (according to previous threads)? Ouch.

Transfers from Fiumicino to Termini: Rome Cabs was suggested before and is often recommended but they don't appear to be able to accommodate more than 8. Hopefully someone has suggestions for a resource there as well.

We used a shuttle service a few years ago to get to FCO- and the van only had 8 seats IIRC- not sure there are vehicles with 9 seats?
Pretty sure it was this one:

they only have 8 seaters

Have you considered taking cabs? It's a fixed rate 48€-for 4 people w/luggage
with 9 people I think you could do a cab van and a regular cab- then just meet up again at Termini.
Might be the least expensive way and no need to book in advance- just head outside and get in the taxi line

I'm going to ask the crazy question based on some background from your previous posts:

You are intending to get to Florence with a mixed group of 9 (two kids aged 8 and 5) on your arrival day in Rome.

You are first-timers.

You are not wild about moving this group to Florence and back via train yet the word "affordable" was previously mentioned so you've an eye on cost.

Bargain prices on the trains are possible if purchased in advance but there's some risk doing that for arrival days: a missed train due to a delayed or cancelled flight could be an expensive snag for 9 people holding super-economy non-refundable tickets.

You are looking at a number of transfers: FCO to Florence (or FCO to Termini to Florence); Florence back to Rome; Rome to Civitavecchia; and Civitavecchia to the airport to fly home. You might even be weighing trips from train stations to hotels via multiple taxis. All of this adds up, and can be a trial when trying to move everyone at the same time.

You have (I think?) 6 full days in Rome before heading off to your cruise. Not everyone may be wanting to do/see the same things. And although we've issued the cautions to pack light (moving around Italy with big and/or heavy luggage is a pain), I don't know how successful all of your companions may be at achieving that.

So my question is: What if your group just made Rome their base for the duration? We've had more than 6 days in the city without running out of things to do, and Florence can be done as a day trip if wanting a look at it: 90 minutes from Termini by fast train. You just wouldn't have to do it hauling luggage or on a jet-lagged arrival day. Other day trips are easily done from Rome by train as well. The ruins of Ostia Antica is a popular one as is the lovely town of Orvieto.

Your family would still be spending $ for day-trip train tickets but maybe not all at the same time to the same places, or for the same # of day trips. A base would make it easier for your group to split up according to interests and stamina: important when traveling with young children and dealing with the summer heat. You'd also only be moving group+luggage from airport to Rome hotel, hotel to port, and port back to airport.

Something to consider?
