Airport transfer to Venice

Hello, I’m going to Venice is June. What is the best way to get from the airport to the island?

The best way, in my opinion, is as follows.

From the airport, take the ATV bus # 5 (or a regular land taxi) to Piazzale Roma, and then the vaporetto (a water bus) to the stop closest to your hotel. Then just walk to the hotel. If you supply the name of the hotel we can probably give more specific directions. The hotel web site may also have some detailed instructions.

You can get a vaporetto pass at the airport for the number of days you'll be there and can also add a one or two way bus ticket. I think you can still do it on line from home, print out a voucher, and turn the voucher in for the pass at the airport. Just make sure to validate the pass every time you take it or the bus to P. Roma.

We've done the above a number of times. Easy-peasy! Have a good trip.

The reason we so often mention getting a vaporetto pass is that a single ticket for the vaporetto costs a painful 9.50 euros. (No, the locals don't pay that.) The passes usually work out better if you're staying at least two days. Otherwise, you'll need to give some thought to how often you're likely to want to hop on one of those boats. Venice is a fabulous city to explore on foot, but keep in mind that there aren't many bridges going across the Grand Canal.

24-hour vaporetto pass: 25 euros
48-hour vaporetto pass: 35 euros
72-hour vaporetto pass: 45 euros
168-hour (7-days) vaporetto pass: 65 euros.

Check out your hotel's website for a "How to get here" topic.

What does "best" mean to you?

hey hey wrkoutnow
welcome to the forum
have no clue what "best" means to you. to me it means take a private water taxi which is more $$$ but drops you off as close to hotel/apartment you're staying at. we have used them 4 times as the "best" way.
motoscafivenezia.it (like a first class limousine)
venicelink.com under shuttle
best way to arrive to venice proper. add it to your travel budget and don't worry or stress out about it. where are you going after venice?
good luck and enjoy the ride, smell of fresh air, with chauffeur taking your bags on and off.
