I may need to land in Milan for one night for train travel to Rome the following day. I've been to Milan once before, and don't remember the logistics re MXP/Train Stations. Also, any recommended hotels close to train that are safe and within walking distance to restaurants, etc. Mid-price in RS types
donna, You'll likely be landing at MXP Terminal 1, you have several choices to get into Milan: 1.) You can travel via the Trenitalia trains to Milano Centrale. 2.) You can take the Malpensa Shuttle (Bus) to Milano Centrale (passengers are dropped at the side of the station). Travel time is about 50-minutes, depending on traffic. As I recall, tickets are €7.50 and you can buy from the Driver or inside the Terminal. 3.) You can use the Malpensa Express (train) to Cadorna Station, which is closer to Sforza Castle and the Duomo. You can easily get to Milano Centrale from there via the Metro. Which option to choose will depend to some extent on where your Hotel is located. There are lots of Hotels in various areas listed in the Italy Guidebook. You might have a look at Hotel London, which is close to the Duomo and Via Dante (the Guidebook doesn't recommend the overpriced breakfasts). Happy travels!
