What is the best way to get from the airport to our hotel in venice which is near the Rialto (sp?) bridge? Cost?
Jan - Water taxis from the dock outside the Airport are fabulous AND expensive - about $100.00 U.S. to Rialto. Vaporetto's from the same location are only a few euros each and get you there a little slower but much more economically. Your choice. You will love Venice!! Your Hotel will have free water taxi tickets for you to go to Murano as well as Burano. A very nice half day !! Watching the glass-blowing is amazing and having lunch on Burano is a lot of fun.
Enjoy, Greg
look in the previous entires on 09/11/09. this topic was addressed and I listed two websites for the watertaxi. If there is only two of you the watertaxi is expensive, so if you can afford it great. If there is more of you I would do it, as it is very convienient.
Thanks Greg...I appreciate the information.
Jan, we used Alilaguna boat service to San Marco Square. Got off there and purchased our 48 hour vaporetto pass...highly recommended. Our hotel was also near the Rialto Bridge. We actually used the stop just before the Rialto in order to keep from dragging our luggage over all those stairs.
Hi Jan,
Alilaguna also has started a shared water taxi service, where they will match you up with others (no more that 10 ppl per boat) who are arriving around the same time as you. Much less expensive than private water taxi and much less crowded than regular Alilaguna boats. We are planning to use this shared water taxi service when we arrive in Venice on 9/27. Easily booked online and cost is 27 euros per person.
Enjoy your trip!
Terry and Jeff
It depends on what you mean by "best." Cheapest? Easiest? Quickest? What does the hotel recommend?
