We 5 adults are arriving in Rome Aug 12 and need to arrange transfer to Horel Giulio Cesare, The hotel is in the Prati area of Rome. I was considering hiring a van ahead of time. Suggestions please.
Thank you,
Lorie
Taxi is one choice. Another is to ask your hotel what arrangement they can make for you. Having a driver waiting for you and knowing exactly where to go is a stress free way to start your visit.
Yes it looks like your hotel offers a shuttle service. You should ask them.
Hi,
If I go by taxi can I get one at a taxi stand at the airport ? If yes, are there vans that can take us 5 with luggage? Also any idea of costs?
Thank you,
Lorieann
Taxis at the stand charge €48 per trip into Rome for four people and luggage. So with 5 you would need 2 taxis. This is a charge set by the city. If using the airport taxi stand make sure the taxi has the city crest on the door. These are the licensed taxis. I have never seen a minivan at the taxi stand.
For a minivan best to order through one of the shuttle services. A google search will bring up the names. I have used Rome Cabs and been happy with their service. I see they currently charge €60 for 5 people in an 8 passenger vehicle, daytime arrival. It goes up by €10 for after 7 pm. They will meet you in the terminal and they check flight arrivals so even if you are late they will be there
For a group your size I'd suggest a company called Rome Cabs which is a private car service despite the name. After a long flight, with a large group (some who may be jet lagged), and not being familiar with the area, there will be nothing better than having your private driver meet you inside the terminal and whisk your group to your hotel. No fending off the "outlaw" cabs, waiting in the regular taxi line, or just having a "lost" feeling. The cost for your group should be very close (if not less) than using regular taxis. We can not say enough good things about Rome Cabs. We always use them and have always been very pleased. Go to romecabs.com and see what you think. We always send an email and they answer us with a quote within 24 hours. At one time you did have to pay cash (Euros) at the end of the journey but not in advance However, I think they now take credit cards. Hope this helps.
www.romecans.com is a private limo service and they don’t charge much more than a taxi.
The taxi is 48€ plus a small fee for the 5th passenger. In your case you would need to wait for a taxi minivan, of which there are plenty at the airport, but a private driver with Romecans is a good deal.

We just did this, only going from hotel to airport. We used http://www.rome-chauffeur.com which is the partner of romecabs (romecabs was booked up). I was worried about a taxi showing up on time, the romechauffer driver was actually early!
Cost us 50 euros.
I endorse Charlotte's recommendation to use Rome Chauffeur. I've used Rome Chauffeur on all 3 trips to Rome, and as Charlotte says, the drivers are always early, and their customer service team is impeccable. Rome Chauffeur has vans that would accommodate all 5 people, and the rate is a flat 50 euros one-way. Highly recommended.
To be picked up by Rome Chauffeur at Fiumicino, exit through Customs, and you'll see many drivers with signs waiting to pick up passengers. Look for your name, and that's your Rome Chauffeur driver. Incredibly easy!
