I don't remember the price, but we did this once and since the Florence airport is close to town, the taxi wasn't bad.

The tram is the cheapest.
It goes directly from Peretola (Florence) airport , to just beside the main train station (Santa Maria Novella) in Florence, and costs under E2.
I believe it starts around 5 am, and goes till late in the evening, about every 20 minutes.

You're probably asking about transport for the Florence airport (Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola) to the historic center of Florence but just in case, you don't mean from the Rome airport (Fiumicino/Leonardo da Vinci)?
