Anyone used the airport shuttle mentioned in Rick’s Italy book? How was it?
We used the Leonardo Express from Termini station. It worked well for us
There are also coaches/buses.
I took one last time for about E7 one way.
I font remember which company.
They stop in the huge parking/bus area outside Termini Rail Station in Rome.
It really helps if you list the name of the company that you are inquiring about. "airport shuttle mentioned in Rick's Italy book" is meaningless to most people. What specific shuttle are you talking about?
I simply took a cab into Rome directly to my hotel. Fixed rate and when I was tired, it was well worth it to me.
We arranged for transportation from the airport through the hotel. Not all hotels make the service available.
The one he mentions is called Airport Shuttle with a website of airportshuttle.it.
We are thinking we might just take the Leonardo Express, unless we are very tired.
I like your idea of two plans. The first if you are feeling energetic and the second if you are feeling tired. I often use this approach and it works well.
My one question would be, how far is your hotel from the train station in Rome? If the cost for 2 people on the Leonardo Express is $28, but you still need a taxi once you hit Rome to get the hotel, have you saved any money over just taking the $50-55 dollar cab direct from the airport to your hotel? Would that amount of money be worth the extra hassle?
That’s a great question Carol.
It may be easier and not much more expense to just take a taxi.
I tend to like trains but don’t always like a frenetic train station.
It really depends on where your hotel is? Close to Termini --- take the train. Somewhere else in central Rome -- take a taxi. Price is fixed at 48euro or maybe a couple Euro higher since the price slowly increases from year to year.
