Airport Rome Private Transfer Recommendations

We book a car through our hotel, which is Hotel Smeraldo. They were on time both coming and going to Rome twice.

Mich's Ride Rome (pronounced 'Mike') [email protected] and www.michsride.com is an RS recommended port and airport transfer service that also offers city tours and day trips. I used them most recently February 2025 and they also provided transportation during the Best of Rome RST I was on. Excellent service, in airport greeting, luggage assistance, late model air-conditioned van and friendly and professional driver. Highly recommend!

We've used Rome Cabs several times and have always been happy with the service and price. It is a car service and not just a taxi despite the name. We just send an email outlining our needs and get a reply in less than 24 hrs. We had a hotel in Rome arrange a car service for us once. Turned out to be the desk clerk's brother-in-law. There were four of us and two spoke Italian, so didn't have a problems But..........

For as much as I hate the taxi lobby in Italy, I don't mind to take them from FCO to the city center, since it's a flat City imposed rate (55€). Just walk to the taxi stand in front of T3 and you will be on board within minutes, as the line of people goes really fast even if it might appear long.

I see that the private transfer suggested above (www.michsride.com) is only 10 euro more for up to 2 people, so you might try that one. Over 2 people pay 75€, and maybe in that case I would take a taxi.

Since the train is not door to door, I can understand avoiding the train. What is your concern for Rome taxis? (Mostly for other readers.). We have always found the Rome taxis to be reasonable and honest. Cannot always say the same for other cities but always good luck with Rome taxi. The to and from the airport is fixed rate.

Arranging this transportation for 2 young adult females, 1st time to Rome. Just trying to make this the smoothest and safest transition possible.

We have our hotel set up the car and they always ask for the flight number so the dispatcher can watch for delays.

i wonder what smoothest and safest transition is between a rome cab airport line and private transfer, but it's your first trip and you do you. whoever you reserve with leave your airlines, flight # arrival time. they will follow it and wait for you with a sign when you come out of baggage claim. check your arrival time, hotel check-in times 3-4pm and check-out times 10-11am

I have used Rome Cabs as a single female to go from my hotel to the airport and felt very comfortable. I have seen a post before a few years ago that a family contacted them and requested a female driver because it was a young female coming to meet up with her family. They accommodated the request.

I am curious why the young adults are not making their own arrangements
How old are they?

If they will be traveling around or even just staying in Rome they should be participating in the planning
They will need to be able to make their own choices /decisions while there

Anyway-there is nothing simpler or safer than getting in the official taxi line and handing the driver their address
Taxis are required to accept cards but cash (in euro) is fine as well
55 euros flat rate, no tip necessary please!

Otherwise your best resource is their hotel-have them email them and ask about an airport pick up

Not really any Uber in Italy

As an adult female who has lived in Rome and had her young adult daughter visit, I can understand why you might want to arrange a private driver, but I can assure you that nothing could be simpler than taking a taxi from FCO to a hotel. There are many signs in the airport directing visitors to the taxi line which is right after baggage claim. Have them write the hotel name and address on an index card or piece of paper and hand it to the driver when they reach the head of the line. The fee is a flat 55 euro assuming the hotel is within the city walls. Taxis are required to accept credit cards and tipping is not required. They will be fine.

The two young adult females cannot have all the details of their travels arranged and supervised by a parent from 6000 miles away. Eventually they need to learn how to use a taxi on their own, or even the bus or the metro, because they need to learn. Rome is big and you can't rely exclusively on your feet. And there is no better place to start to learn how to use a taxi than the airport. It works exactly like in America. Come out of the terminal, walk to the taxi stand, when it's your turn (if there is a line of passengers ahead of you), get aboard one. Taxi drivers speak at least some very basic English, so all they need to tell them is the name of the hotel and the address (or hand him a card with the name and address). There is nothing else to do. The taxi will drop them off in front of the hotel door. At the end of the trip hand 55€ to the driver (or a credit card).
When they need to use a taxi again, they can have the hotel staff summon one for them (if they depart from the hotel) or walk to one of the many taxi stands and get on one. They can also call one by using the ItTaxi app. Tell them to download it before leaving.

Regarding the limo service you are trying to book, I see that RomeCabs, suggested above, now charge a whopping 120€ for 2 people, that is more than twice the cost of a taxi. I don't know what they give you, but for that price I want to drink a bottle of the best Dom Perignon Champagne while I ride the car.
