We fly out of Rome returning from Lecce.
Can you suggest an airport hotel?
Not actually at the airport but only 10 mins drive away…Hotel Tiber in the town of Fumiciano. Modern hotel with comfortable rooms, pleasant grounds, right in the Tiber where the fishing boats come in. Has a decent restaurant, shuttle service and reasonable rates.
I stayed at the Hilton Airport Rome Hotel last September, steps away from the airport. Super easy and not too expensive, about $200 for one night. I didn’t have to get up super early to then get a ride to the airport because I was there already. Much more leisurely morning before my flight home.
We stayed at our in town hotel, and they had a driver pick us up early. The traffic was light and it just took a few minutes to get out to the Rome airport.
When we had a super-early flight, we stayed at the airport Hilton. Just a few steps to the terminal.
I agree that the airport Hilton is very convenient. But if possible, do not have dinner there. They serve what may be the worst food in Italy.
As stated, the Hilton is very convenient. I agree that the dinner was below par, but the breakfast buffet was pretty good. Not gourmet, but there was plenty to choose from and it was quick.
Last October, wife and I stayed at the Hello Sky Air Rooms in Fiumicino Airport. It was perfect for us to easily make an early morning flight to U.S. by way of Munich. We had dinner in Rome and then took the Leonardo Express to the airport. It's an easy indoor walk to the modern, clean, no-frills rooms. It was about a 5-minute walk from the room to airport security.
I always stay at the Hilton before a morning flight. Great hotel right across the terminals and not too expensive.
The food at the Hilton is NOT so great, and is NOT cheap either. But you can walk to the terminals just minutes away through the sky bridge and eat at the restaurants there that are available in the terminals before security. There are some great restaurants at the Rome airport and although at airport prices, they have good food and still not as expensive as the Hilton restaurant. Eataly opened recently at T3, and is accessible before security, if I remember correctly.
