Have a very early return flight from Florence and looking for tips re an "airport hotel," An airport shuttle would be nice, or at least a 24 hour desk that will order up a taxi. Open to staying near the train station if that's an efficient and dependable way to get to the airport in the wee hours. Also wondering what's the best time to arrive at the airport if our flight's at 0630. Thanks in advance.
It’s a short taxi ride ( 20 min) from the center and there be any traffic that early
Fixed rate I believe 22 euros
Your flight is stopping somewhere else in Europe so it is basically a domestic flight
Arriving about 90 min before departure will be fine
Check to see what time the check in desk opens, possibly not til 5 am
Just did this 2 months ago for a flight at the same time. Prior poster right on all counts. The airport is a short ride from the center of town but not in a neighborhood I would stay in. The airport is very small and 90 minutes is plenty of time for a connection to elsewhere in Europe. When we arrived there was a long line in the lobby to who knows where. The signage was not English only friendly. We went instead to the airline counter (Lufthansa) and no line. Checked our bags through to the US and hit the lounge. At the gate we all boarded a bus which too us out on the tarmac to our waiting aircraft.
You don’t really need to stay near the airport. The city center is only 3 to 4miles away and early in the morning a taxi will get you there in 15 min.
The airport opens at 4am and check in positions open 2 hours prior to departure. Being there 75-90 min prior to departure will be sufficient.
I usually stay near the airport before my flight because my country house is about 90 min away from the FLR airport and I don’t care to stay in the city center, but if you plan to be in Florence multiple days there is no reason to change hotels for your last night.
If you must absolutely be near the Florence airport I usually stay here:

I live on the "circle" around the center of Florence, not too distant from the station, I have early flights say four or five times per year.
Florence airport has a lot of early flights that are basically feeder flights to main European hubs (Rome, Zurich, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam). 2 hours advance are plenty, 1h 30" still possible; without luggage, 1 hour still possible but cutting a little too close. The airport is tiny and has not much waiting space.
I usually reserve a taxi the day before (not too late in the day!) to take some uncertainty away from the process. If you reserve for example for 4.30am, the taxi will be waiting for you at your door at 4.25am, if you do not show within a few minutes they will call back you on the phone. You may ask your hotel to reserve or you may phone 055-4242 or 055-4390 or 055-4798. At that time in the morning, taxis take 12-15 minutes from SMN station, a little less if closer, a little more if on the other side of the city.
