I just realized that I have not reserved a hotel for the last night of our trip. We will be coming in from Venice by train to Milan. I do not have a ticket yet, so I do not know the station. Can anyone recomend a decent hotel in Milan, that will make for an easy commute to the Milan/Mallpensa airport. I know that I could stay close to the airport, but was advised not to in earlier posts. Also, we may not have much time, but any recomendations for something to see, and a place to eat in just a few hours in Milan? Thanks for any help! Jeff
We stayed at Hotel Berna about 1 1/2 blocks from Milano centrale which is where your train from Venice will be arriving. You can go back to train station and on catch the malpensa express bus on side of train station. There is subway to downtown close to hotel.
Jeff,
Two options for you to consider....
You could reserve a Hotel near Via Dante (easy walking distance to the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele) and then simply use the Malpensa Express (train) from Cadorna station to the Airport (it's a VERY easy trip and no worries about traffic). I used the London Hotel a few months ago and would certainly recommend it.
You could also reserve a Hotel near Milano Centrale and take the Malpensa Shuttle (Coach) to the airport. These depart from the side of Milano Centrale and you can pay the driver or buy a ticket inside the station. One Hotel in that area is The Best Hotel but I haven't stayed there so can't offer any comments.
Check the Italy Guidebook for other Hotel listings in both areas.
Happy travels!
I've stayed at The Best Hotel--it isn't perfect but it's affordable and a good location for getting to and from the train station. It's also convenient to public transportation for visiting the Duomo, etc.
We stayed at Hotel Berna in July and it was very nice. Very convenient to train station and would stay here again. A wonderful breakfast buffet too.
